rqlite
is a lightweight, open-source, distributed relational database built on SQLite and Raft.
rqlite.io is the Hugo-based website for rqlite, built on the Docsy theme. It introduces people to the database, as well as serving all the technical documentation. Last month I decided to ask Claude Code to redesign the website.
I fed this simple prompt to Opus 5, setting Claude at xhigh effort:
I’ve got a broad general request for you. This source code is the docsy-based website for rqlite. It’s a bit boring, I think a little more dynamism on the landing page would be good. Nothing crazy, but visually it’s a bit flat. Anything you could do? Would a screenshot help?
I was quite pleased with the results, and it was interesting to see Claude Code execute the task in real time. At some points it fired up a headless Chrome browser to check its work. Let’s take a look at the results.

I accepted Claude’s changes without hesitation. I very much liked the darker colors, which Claude chose specifically to complement the rqlite logo. The copy has improved, and it more clearly communicates the advantages of rqlite. The homepage also features a screenshot of the built-in web console, which was a great touch.
